Step 1 – The Roof
The first step in the process is up on the rooftop and requires outlining and cutting the hole for your desired skylight. Next, the skylight is placed and secured by fastening it to the roof with the three layers of protection found in VELUX No Leak Skylights. All-in-all, the installation process takes between less than a day up to three days. This process depends on the design of the roof, weather, shape, and light shaft depth. We promise that we will provide nothing but perfection.
Step 2 – The Interior
The next phase in the process is to finish up the interior. This part of the installation process includes drywall and painting. It is crucial to note that the time it takes to install is dependent on the pitch and type of ceiling in your home. If you have a flat ceiling, the installation will require more drywall work, as it requires the technician to build a shaft to access the daylight for the perfect skylight. We do our absolute best to complete the installation process without creating too much of a mess and to contain the dust and debris as best as possible.
For the Sun Tunnel Skylights, the process is a bit different but just as efficient. The technician will use a similar two-step process compared to the skylight installation. First, we cut a hole for the top collar, the reflective tunnel, the lens, and the flashing of the sun tunnel, and then place it all into the roof from the exterior. On the interior, they will cut a hole in the ceiling and place the second part of the reflective tunnel between the two holes and then seal them securely. Lastly, we install the diffuser, and the trim ring, which we place onto your ceiling. You will not believe that if the sun is shining, so is your new sun tunnel skylight.
